# SMS - Save as Draft vs Send for Approval

> Understand the SMS template lifecycle in Fyno, including draft creation, DLT submission, approval workflows, status tracking, and template readiness for messaging.

When your SMS template is ready, use the buttons at the top of the editor. **Save As Draft** keeps it in Fyno, and **Send To Provider** submits it to your DLT integration for approval.

## Save as Draft

Click **Save As Draft**. The **Template Saved** pop-up confirms the draft was saved. Click **Done** to close it.

## Send for approval

Click **Send To Provider** to submit the template to your DLT integration. The template is locked while DLT reviews it. Its status is updated in Fyno when the template is synced, and once it's approved, you can use it to send SMS.

> **Note**
>
> If template approvals are enabled in your workspace, **Send To Provider** needs an additional approval step. Choose from your designated approvers, who review the template before it's sent to the provider. See [Create an Approval Request](./create-approval-request) for the steps.

## Template statuses

| Status       | What it means                                                  |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Draft**    | Saved in Fyno, but not submitted to DLT. It can't be used yet. |
| **Pending**  | Submitted to DLT and waiting for approval.                     |
| **Approved** | Approved by DLT and ready to send messages.                    |
| **Rejected** | Not approved by DLT.                                           |

## Template list

Each template in the SMS templates list shows:

| Column            | What it shows                                   |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Template Name** | The name of the DLT template.                   |
| **Status**        | Its current approval status.                    |
| **Last Synced**   | When the status was last fetched from DLT.      |
| **DLT Provider**  | The connected DLT integration.                  |
| **Type**          | Transactional, Promotional or Service Implicit. |
